Kate studied Psychology with Cognitive Science before spending over 30 years in education and training. As a headteacher, she set up a new school and led it to an 'outstanding in all areas' Ofsted rating at the first attempt, before founding her own consultancy and becoming a Mental Health First Aid England trainer.

Since joining Applause for Thought in March 2020, Kate has trained nearly 1,500 people from the arts in mental health awareness and first aid. She also delivers line manager training and wellbeing and safeguarding consultancy, and supports productions and production offices across the West End.

Kate volunteers for the 24/7 crisis helpline SHOUT, and in 2022 received the Industry Minds Award for her work bettering mental health education and care in the arts.
